On another typically hot sunny day 13 divers and 7 support people gathered at McIvor Lake Beach for an underwater cleanup. The divers did 15 dives and recovered more than 800 pounds of garbage from all the beaches at McIvor Lake. A couple of hardworking shore people also recovered more than 40 pounds of garbage.
The information about the gathered garbage was passed on to the local representative of the International Coastal Cleanup group.
Thanks to the District of Campbell River for letting us use the park and garbage containers, Thrifty's Food, Save-on Foods and IGA Foods for donating bags for collecting garbage and diversco Scuba Supply and Bare for donating prizes for all who took part.
